On Consuming Alcohol for the First Time in over a Month and Other Updates
September 4th, 2011
It had officially been 35 days since I had last consumed alcohol today. However, I decided that today would be a good time to try some. I was in a controlled environment surrounded by family which lowered the likelihood of over-imbibing and of peer pressure to get wasted.
So I had one Stag beer at my grandfather’s 80th birthday party. It was a strong, hoppy beer and tasted pretty good. After drinking my face felt warm and I felt a bit buzzed. Apparently I am back to my baseline tolerance of one beer (light weight). And there is a possibility that I am allergic to something in the beer, which caused the feeling of heat after drinking. This is something to look into.
Moderation
I quit after the one beer because I didn’t like the feeling of being flushed. And the idea of getting drunk around both sets of grandparents didn’t seem appealing. Instead, I drank water for the remainder of the afternoon.
