Christmas Parties, Colds and Eating Raw: Raw Day 8

December 5th, 2011

Friday was the work Christmas party. I managed to stick with the diet despite the cooked food temptations. As most of the food contained gluten or cheese, it wasn’t that hard to withstand the temptation. Instead I ate the tomatoes that were garnishing the cheese plate.

The Cold

At the end of the night, however, I developed a bad headache. This pretty much set the tone for the weekend. I was planning on working out on Saturday and cleaning the house. Instead I slept until noon and spent the day lying in bed with the same headache combined with a sore throat and overall achey-ness.

The trend continued through Sunday, though I did feel better during the day. I even attempted (albeit, poorly) to make a raw vegan sushi with cauliflower “rice”. I will attempt to make it again with fewer toppings so that I can roll it properly. I’d also like to try jicama “rice” instead for a sweeter flavor.

I’m thinking that the cold came on because of detoxing. When my immune system is busy fighting off all of those stored toxins that were in my fat cells, it hardly has enough time or energy to keep the common cold at bay. Oh well, I felt better today and should be near 100% by tomorrow.

Today was the second day of my offsite in Cincinnati. Unlike yesterday, I had much less luck in the food department. The buffet only one thing I could eat: lettuce. Everything else contained meat or dairy. Luckily there were apples left over from the morning break so I had those instead.

Consuming Conference Food

November 9th, 2011

I was at an offsite for work today in Cincinnati. I was concerned about having food to eat, but I managed. All of the meals were buffet style so I was able to pick and choose what I wanted to eat.

Today’s Food

I didn’t track my calories that well today.

Breakfast: Sliced watermelon and cantaloupe

Lunch: Salad with onions, mushrooms, candied walnuts and spinach along with vegetables sauteed in olive oil (string beans, onions, zucchini and yellow squash and there was some incident bell pepper consumption).

More Peppers

November 8th, 2011

I ate peppers for a second time today. Once again I had no discernible issues with them. Pending issues tomorrow, I think it is safe to keep them in my diet.

It will be hard to eat for the next two days. I am in Cincinnati for an offsite for work where they are providing all of the meals. I have no idea if they will have anything for me to eat. I forgot to send in a request for a special meal. I believe I indicated that I was vegetarian on the registration, but I’m not certain if I also indicated gluten-free, or if I said vegan. This could be interesting.
